Overview

Clover Cafe is the brand name I created to market and sell baked goods with 2 of my friends. We specialize in Asian-inspired cookies and pastries, and our mascot is a little bird named Bredbirb! Currently, we operate by preorder in the Metro Atlanta area. Although I hope to expand to physical locations, I'm currently working on expanding the menu through new cookie ideas and combinations!

Process

Before trying to launch any pastry on the menu, our artist concepted our logo, and I vectorized it through Figma. We ended up creating our mascot through the sketching phase too!

Afterwards, we started to test new recipes and expanded our menu with salt breads and Asian-inspired cookies. We collaborated with food photographer @officialgrvv to photograph our pastries.

Furthermore, I initiated a brand collaboration with the bubble tea franchise Pearl’s Tea to grow audience awareness past our reach on Instagram. I am proud to say that, as a result of my negotiations with the owner of Pearl’s Tea, Clover Cafe products are available for purchase at Pearl’s Tea’s physical locations!

The first pastries we wanted to trial were Dubai Chewy Cookies, a viral Korean cookie combining creamy pistachio cream and chocolate. We took pictures, opened preorders on our social media, and created a process to keep track of our supply costs and profits.

Reflection

The experience of starting my own business has been eye-opening and altogether quite exciting! I've developed hands-on skills in business, negotiation, marketing with social media, and graphic design that I wouldn't normally be able to practice. I still have my eyes set on creating video content and being able to participate in events like markets around the Atlanta area, with discussions on those already in progress! I'm eternally grateful to my friends, Cynthia and Ty, who are major contributors to the development of Clover Cafe.
